LUBBOCK, Texas - The No.45 Texas Tech women's golf team heads to Boerne, Texas, March 24-26, to compete in the Baylor-Tapatio Springs Intercollegiate Shootout. The Raiders are coming off a 17th-place finish at the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational in Austin, Texas, a week ago.
Tech returns to the greens in Waco after finishing third out of 19 teams last year. Tech's finish at the Springs Shootout was first out of 20 teams in 2002.
Leading the Red and Black so far this season are seniors Kin Kolb, shooting a 76.35 over 20 rounds of play, and Megan Hull just trailing her team mate firing a 76.80 average.
Tech will face some familiar faces at this week's tournament while also matching up against some of the nation's top women's programs. Filling the 18-team field are Arkansas-Little Rock, Arkansas State, Baylor, Eastern Michigan, Florida International, McLennan CC, Memphis, Michigan, Oklahoma, Sam Houston State, SMU, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Tech, Texas-Pan American, Toledo, UTEP, Wisconsin and Xavier.
The Lady Raiders will begin competition with 18 holes to be played out on Thursday at the Tapatio Springs Golf Resort (6,007 yards, Par 72), followed by the remaining 36 holes to be spanned-out over two more days of competition. The 54-hole event will end on Sat., March 26.
