LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech women's golf team stands in a sixth after the first round at the Baylor-Tapatio Spring Shootout in Boerne, Texas. Lady Raiders Kim Kolb and Valerie Tan carded 76 rounds to lead the Lady Raiders on the leaderboard in a tie for 11th-place.
In a tie for 30th is sophomore Marla Troester who posted a first-round 80 to open the shootout. Following the sophomore is junior Hazel Tan boasting an 84 first round with senior Megan Hull rounding out the last competing Lady Raiders with a 91 first round. Hazel Tan and Hull sit in a tie for 57th and 90th, respectively.
Competing as individuals for the Red and Black are junior Ashley Slavich (82, t42nd), senior Sheila Mendez (83, t48th) and freshman redshirt Deirdre Hatfield (84, t57th).
Leading the team leaderboard is host school Baylor (295) in first, followed by Michigan State (301) in second. Rounding out the top five are Oklahoma (306-third), SMU (314-fourth) and UTEP (315) in fifth.
The three-day event will continue tomorrow with 18 holes at the Tapatio Spring Resort. The 54-hole event will wrap up on Sat., March 25.
