The Texas Tech women's golf team closed out competition in fifth after shooting a 310 in the third round at the Baylor-Tapatio Springs Shootout in Boerne, Texas. Senior Kim Kolb sealed Tech's hold of fifth, all-by-itself, with a third- and final-round 72 to finish in a tie for fifth individually.
Kolb (76-78-72-226) used her senior experience to post her best outing at the Shootout carding a tie for the third-lowest round of any individual with a 72. In 23rd is sophomore Marla Troester (80-78-77-235) who is followed by freshman Valerie Tan (76-79-84-239) in 32nd. Tied for 39th is junior Hazel Tan (84-77-81-242) trailed by Tech's final competitor in senior Megan Hull (90-79-80-250) in a tie for 62nd.
Competing as individuals for the Red and Black were junior Ashley Slavich (82-80-84-246, t52nd), senior Sheila Mendez (83-90-77-250, t62nd) and freshman redshirt Deirdre Hatfield (84-83-96-253, t71st).
Taking the team title was host-school Baylor (295-291-311-897) who led throughout the whole tournament. Following the tournament host was Michigan State (301-300-303-904) in second and SMU (314-296-314-924) in third. Rounding out the top five were Oklahoma (306-311-314-931) and Tech (316-312-310-938) in fourth and fifth, respectively.
