Tech Women in Fifth after One

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech women's golf team, despite dealing with the rain, finished the first round at the Susie Maxwell Berning Classic in Norman, Okla., in fifth carding a 307. The Lady Raiders will have to finish up the second round, which they started today but had cut short because of rain, along with the third round tomorrow.
Leading the Red and Black through one is senior Megan Hull (t-fourth), who carded a 73, followed by senior Kim Kolb (t11th) who shot a first-round 75. Rounding out Tech's competitors are senior Sheila Mendez (78, t28th), junior Hazel Tan (78, t28th) who is competing as an individual, sophomore Marla Troester (81, t48th) and freshman Valerie Tan (82, t57th).
Leading the team leaderboard is No.34 Baylor (296) in first, followed by No.16 Missouri (298) and No.25 Tulsa tied for second. Rounding out the top five are No.28 SMU (fourth) and Tech in fifth.
The Lady Raiders will continue second round action tomorrow with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. to finish off the second round of play. The final 18 holes will begin with a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow to close out the Susie Maxwell Berning Classic.
The 54-hole event, taking place at the Trails Golf Club (5,920 yards, Par 72), will have results posted on Texas Tech's official website www.texastech.com at the conclusion of tomorrow's final round.
