Women's Golf Heads to Norman

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech women's golf team heads to Norman, Okla., April 10-11, to compete at the Susie Maxwell Berning Classic. The Raiders are coming off a fifth-place finish at the Baylor-Tapatio Springs Shootout in Boerne, Texas.
The Lady Raiders are returning to the Berning Classic after finishing fifth last year at the event. Tech's best finish came in 2002-03 when it finished second out of 16 teams.
Overall the Raiders are led by the clubs of Kim Kolb who is averaging a 76.22 stroke average. Following the senior is freshman Valerie Tan who is averaging a 77.48.
Tech's competition this weekend will consist of four teams ranked in the top 50, three of which are in the top 30. The field consists of Arkansas-Little Rock, Arkansas State, No.34 Baylor, Kansas State, No.16 Missouri, Nebraska, North Texas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma City University, Oral Roberts, Redlands Community College, No.28 SMU, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Texas Tech, No.25 Tulsa and UTEP.
The Lady Raiders will begin competition with 36 holes to be played out on Sunday at the Trails Golf Club (5,920 yards, Par 70), followed by the remaining 18 holes on Monday. The 54-hole event will begin with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. on Sunday.
