Tech's Dowdy Qualifies for USGA Public Links

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech freshman golfer Megan Dowdy finished among the top four at the National Women's Public Links Championship Sectional Qualifier in Garland, Texas, on Monday, qualifying her for the national tournament in July. Dowdy shot a 77 in the one-round event earlier this week to finish in a third-place tie and qualify as one of the top four golfers to advance to the championships.
The Women's Amateur Public Links Championships is scheduled for July 11-16 at Swope Memorial Golf Course in Kansas City and will showcase 144 golfers from around the country. Practice rounds are scheduled for July 9-10 with stroke play qualifying rounds slated for July 11-12. Match play will begin July 13 and run through the duration of the event.
Dowdy, a native of Leander, Texas, sat out during the 2004-05 season as a redshirt.
