Red Raiders Battle Kansas to 3-0 Sweep

Lubbock, Texas- The Texas Tech volleyball team battled the Kansas Jayhawks to a 3-0 victory this evening at the United Spirit Arena. The Red Raiders topped the Jayhawks by scores of 30-28, 30-25, 30-19.
Tonight's win marks the Red Raiders' second-consecutive conference sweep at home and their eighth win of the season. This is the first time Tech has beaten Kansas since Nov. 6, 2002.
The Red Raiders now sit at 8-5 and 2-2 in the Big 12 on the season. Tonight was Tech's 13th win over the Jayhawks and their sixth victory over Kansas on their home court. KU now sits at 11-3 and 3-2 in the Big 12 on the season.
Philister Sang tallied her seventh double-double of the season with 10 kills and 10 digs. Desiree Batista anchored the defense with 14 digs while Brianna Florus led the way for the middle with two solo blocks and four block assists.
The Red Raiders will face the Missouri Tigers, Sat. Oct. 1, at the United Spirit Arena. First serve is slated for 3 p.m. Football ticket holders for Saturday night's game against Kansas receive free admission to the Tech volleyball game.
