
Tech Takes on Cyclones in Saturday Match

LUBBOCK, Texas - After falling to No. 24 Oklahoma on Wednesday, Texas Tech will look to capture a victory against Iowa State in the second match of their stay at home. The Red Raiders and Cyclones will battle it out on Saturday, October 14, in the United Spirit Arena with a 7 p.m. first serve.
Tech is coming off of a heartbreaking loss to the Sooners in which the Red Raiders jumped to a 2-0 lead. OU proved they are worth their No. 24 rank as they went on to capture the victory by stealing the next three games. Oklahoma won in games of 21-30, 18-30, 30-25, 30-24, 15-8. The loss dropped Tech to an overall record of 9-8 and 2-6 in conference play.
Iowa State swept Colorado in Boulder on Wednesday, improving the Cyclones' record to 12-6 overall, 4-4 in the Big 12. ISU outhit the Buffs .348 to .188 to win in games of 30-20, 30-25, 30-27. Katie Jessen led for Iowa State as she tallied a double-double with 14 kills and 10 digs on .385 hitting.
Four of Iowa State's six losses have come against ranked teams. The first defeat was given to the Cyclones by Michigan at the UC Irvine Nike Invitational. The Wolverines won 3-1 with frames of 23-30, 30-28, 30-28, 30-28. That same day, then-No. 20 San Diego beat ISU 3-2 with scores of 28-30, 30-28, 27-30, 30-20, 15-13.
Since conference play, Iowa State has fallen short of Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas and Missouri. The Cyclones were swept by each of the Big 12 foes. Prior to their defeat of Colorado, Iowa State lost to No. 11 Texas and No. 17 Missouri in Ames, Iowa.
Texas Tech will be looking for their first victory against Iowa State since winning 3-0 in Lubbock on Nov. 13, 2004. The Red Raiders were swept in each meeting last season.
