
Second Half of Conference Volleyball Begins In Boulder

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Red Raider volleyball squad is coming off of a 3-1 loss to the Kansas State Wildcats on Wednesday that dropped Tech to 10-9 overall, 3-7 Big 12. The Red Raiders lost in Manhattan, Kan., by scores of 22-30, 30-24, 30-32, 19-30. Texas Tech will continue their roadtrip as they face the Colorado Buffoloes in the start of the second half of conference season.
In the first meeting between the two, Tech was swept by the Buffs in frames of 30-27, 30-28, 30-22. Colorado outhit the Red Raiders .306 to .168. Philister Sang led the team with 9 kills and 10 digs. Colorado finished with four Buffs tallying double-digit kills, with Amber Sutherland leading with a dozen.
Including the victory against Tech, Colorado has gone on to accumulate at 6-4 conference record. Along the way, they have picked up victories against Kansas, Texas A&M, Kansas State and Baylor.
The two squads share common wins with two opponents, the Jayhawks and the Aggies. While Tech defeated Kansas 3-1, CU won by a score of 3-2 in Boulder, Colo. The Red Raiders finished Texas A&M in College Station, Texas, in five games, 3-2. Colorado swept the Aggies to pick up their then-third win in the conference. Since October has started, each team has gone 2-2 in their Big 12 matches.
Following the road match in Boulder, Tech will return home for a rematch against the Texas Longhorns on Wednesday, October 25th. The month of October will wrapup with a contest against the Kansas Jayhawks on the 28th.
