Grant Selected By Seattle in 2006 WNBA Draft

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech point guard Erin Grant was drafted in the third round as the 39th overall selection in the 2006 WNBA Draft today by the Seattle Storm. Grant was one of four players from the Big 12 Conference drafted.
Grant, who was named All-Big 12 first team, is the Big 12 Conference and Texas Tech all-time leader in career assists with 844. The Arlington, Texas, native started all 29 games in 2005-06 for the Lady Raiders as she averaged 12.0 points and 6.3 assists per game. Grant dished out double-digit assists five times this season and 22 times in her career.
Grant finished her career at Texas Tech with 1,108 points, 844 assists, 473 rebounds and 158 steals. Her 1,108 points ranks tied for 19th on Tech's career scoring list.
LSU's Seimone Augustus was taken by the Minnesota Lynx as the number one overall selection in the 2006 draft followed by Rutgers' Cappie Pondexter (Phoenix) and Duke's Monique Curry (Charlotte). Rounding out the top five were the Big 12 Player of the Year Sophia Young of Baylor selected by the San Antonio Silver Stars and Lisa Willis of UCLA picked by the Los Angeles Sparks.
Other Big 12 Conference players drafted today included: LaToya Bond (27th, Charlotte) and Christelle N'Garsanet (37th, New York), both from Missouri.
