Red Raiders Struggle in Final Two Rounds

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - After finishing the first round in a tie for first, Texas Tech was unable to maintain the lead as they fell to a seventh-place tie in the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate. The Red Raiders fired rounds of 286-305-295--882 (+18), eight shots back from the leader.
Oscar Floren led the Tech squad for the first time this season with a sixth-place finish. Floren carded rounds of 69-74-72--215 to finish 1-under-par. Teammates Santiago Rivas and Garrett Merrell finished in a tie for 31st with an 8-over 224. Will Griffin tied for 66th after turning in rounds of 72-83-74--229. Jake Younan-Wise shot the lowest third-round score for the Raiders with a 1-under 71 and finished in 72nd.
Host New Mexico took the team title with rounds of 286-297-291--874, 10-over-par. Lobo Charlie Beljan captured the individual title with scores of 67-71-72--210 (-6).
Tech will next participate in the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate in Birmingham, Ala. The tournament will start on Oct. 9, 2006. For complete results, visit www.texastech.com.
