Red Raiders Face Bears in Waco

The Texas Tech Red Raiders travel to Waco, Texas for Saturday's ESPN Plus game against the Baylor Bears. Dave Armstrong will call the play-by-play and Stacey King will provide the game analysis. The 3 PM tip-off will be televised in the Lubbock area on KJTV-TV.
The Red Raiders (13-4, 2-0) and the Bears (10-5, 0-2) began their series on January 2, 1937. The Red Raiders hold a 72-40 margin in the series. The Raiders have 39-12 lead when the teams have played in Lubbock and a 27-26 edge when the teams have played in Waco. Texas Tech has won six of the eight neutral site games. Last season, Texas Tech won in Lubbock (79-61) on January 11 and Baylor won in Waco (77-66) on March 1, 2006.
Texas Tech opened conference play with a 68-54 win over Oklahoma at the United Spirit Arena on Saturday, January 6. The Red Raiders won their first conference road game against Kansas State on Monday, January 8. After a 27-26 halftime lead, the Raiders out-paced the Wildcats by nine points in the second half for their second conference win of the season, 62-52.
Jarrius Jackson (TT) and David Hoskins (KSU) each scored twenty-three points. Martin Zeno dropped in 12 points and teammate Decensae White added 11 points for the Raiders.
The Red Raiders feature three players averaging double-figures for the season. Jarrius Jackson's 21.1 points per game is third in the Big 12. Martin Zeno's 16.5 points per game ranks seventh in the conference. Junior Charlie Burgess adds 10.3 points per game for the Raiders.
Texas Tech's Bob Knight is now the winningest coach in NCAA men's basketball history with Tech's 70-68 win over New Mexico on New Year's Day at the United Spirit Arena. The festivities began with the playing of Frank Sinatra's "My Way." The post-game ceremony featured Chancellor Kent Hance, President Jon Whitmore, Big 12 Associate Commissioner John Underwood, Athletic Director Gerald Myers, quotes from former players (Isiah Thomas, Randy Wittman, and Mike Woodson), plus video messages from Jim Haney (NABC), Rick Barnes (Texas), Mike Krzyzweski (Duke), Dick Vitale (ESPN), and Dean Smith (UNC). Jarrius Jackson and Martin Zeno spoke on behalf of their history-making 2006-2007 teammates. A new banner marking Coach Knight's 880th win was unfurled to the sold-out USA crowd. Confetti cannons added red and black atmosphere to the arena on two occasions. The celebration closed with Coach Knight at the microphone as "My Way" continued playing. Texas Tech provided complete coverage of Bob Knight's post-game press conference via satellite.
For each game this season, Steve Dale will call the courtside action along with Ted Chidester as analyst on the Texas Tech Sports Network. Monday night's game in Manhattan will air on KQBR-FM (99.5) and KKAM-AM (1340).
Texas Tech continues conference play on Saturday, January 20 in a 3:00 PM tip-off in the United Spirit Arena against Kansas with national coverage provided by ESPN.
