LUBBOCK, Texas - After dropping a close 3-2 decision to Texas A&M in its first meeting a month ago, the Red Raider spikers will look for redemption Saturday night in the United Spirit Arena.
Tomorrow night's showdown will mark the 75th meeting all time between the two in-state foes. A&M leads the series 45-29, but Tech has won three of the last five contests with the Aggies, including the last two played in the USA.
The Red Raiders (7-12, 1-9) are coming off a loss at No. 14 Kansas State Wednesday night, in which the Wildcats hit a season-best .459. The Aggies, meanwhile, enter the contest riding the momentum of a two-match win streak after cruising past Sam Houston State 3-0 Tuesday night.
When the two squads met earlier in the season in College Station, TAMU squeaked out a hard-fought 3-2 victory. The Aggies came out and took the first two games, before Tech roared back to take games three and four. Game five went back and forth until the Aggies took the momentum late and claimed the win.
First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. Ice cream sandwiches and an autograph session with the Red Raiders will follow the match on the concourse.
