LUBBOCK, Texas - Sunny Fort Myers, Fla. will be the destination for the Texas Tech women's golf team as it seeks its second team title of the fall season Mon. and Tues., Oct. 29-30 at the 30th annual Pat Bradley Women's Golf Championship held at the Pelican Preserve Golf Club.
Joining Tech on the 6,842-yard par-72 course will be host Florida International, Bradley, Florida Atlantic, Florida Gulf Coast, Memphis, Middle Tennessee State, South Florida, Southern Illinois, Wofford and Daytona Beach Community College, the No. 1-ranked NJCAA program in the country.
The Lady Raiders are coming off one of its best showings ever at an event as they won the Jeannine McHaney/Audrey Morehead Invitational three weeks ago. Tech saw all six of its participating players finish in the top 20, with Megan Dowdy capturing second place at just one stroke behind the leader. The Lady Raiders also tied the lowest round score in school history at 291 in their final round en route to a 900 as they outdistanced Georgia State by 19 strokes.
Head coach Stacey Totman will look for strong outings from sophomore Gloriana Soto, who leads the team with a 74.7 stroke average for the season, and Dowdy, 74.8 stroke average, to help pace Tech as it looks to capture its second title in as many years at Pelican Preserve. The Lady Raiders posted an 879, the lowest-event score in school history, last year at the event on its way capturing the team title.
Action in both days' shotgun starts will tee of at 8:30 a.m. Stats will be available each day at www.golfstat.com.
