HARRELL JOINS ELITE COMPANY
- His first pass completion of the game (21-yards to Edward Britton on Tech's second drive of the game) made him the fifth quarterback in NCAA history to reach 4,000 passing yards in back-to-back seasons. He joins Ty Detmer (BYU), Byron Leftwich (Marshall), Timmy Chang (Hawaii) and Colt Brennan (Hawaii).
- His three touchdown passes in the game moved him past Oklahoma's Jason White for second place on the Big 12's career touchdown passes list with 82. The league record is 95 held by former Red Raider Kliff Kingsburgy (1999-02).
- Set a new school record for the most 400-plus yard passing games in a career as he picked up No. 10 on the afternoon. Kingsbury and BJ Symons previously held the record with nine each.
- Finished the day 36-of-45 (80 percent completion percentage) for 418 yards and three touchdowns.
TRLICA TIES SCHOOL RECORD Senior PK Alex Trlica added another feather to his Texas Tech cap in the waning seconds of the first half when he kicked a 23-yard field goal to give the Red Raiders a 17-0 lead at halftime. The field goal moved him into a tie for first place on the school's career field goal list as he now has 43 in his career and is tied with Bill Adams, who kicked 43 between 1977-79.
- Jumped into the NCAA top 25 all-time career points list for kickers with his eight-point performance today. He has 351 career points on 43 field goals and 222 extra points.
ANOTHER FRESHMAN MAKES HIS MARK Just one week after making his first career start (against Colorado), Aaron Crawford (Memphis, Tenn./Ridgeway) became the latest Texas Tech freshman to put up some big numbers for the Red Raider offense. He became the first freshman running back in the Mike Leach era to score four touchdowns in a single game as he ran for two scores and caught two passes for touchdownds. Freshman receiver Michael Crabtree became the first freshman receiver in the Leach era to catch three TD passes in a single game earlier this season against SMU.
TECH EXTENDS SHUTOUT STREAK AGAINST BAYLOR ON BEAR TURF Texas Tech's three-quarter shutout of the Baylor Bears gave the Red Raider defense 10 consecutive shutout quarters here in Waco at Floyd Casey Stadium. Texas Tech dealt the Bears a 28-0 shutout in its last appearance here at Floyd Casey Stadium back in 2005. Cody Hodges was 22-of-44 (two interceptions) for 264 yards with one touchdown in that game. Tech also shut out the Bears through the final three quarters of a 62-14 win in 2003.
RED RAIDERS EXTEND STREAK OVER BAYLOR Texas Tech's 38-7 win over Baylor gives the Red Raiders 12-straight wins over the Bears and a 33-32-1 lead in the all-time series. Baylor's last win over Texas Tech was back in the Southwest Conference days as the Bears scored a 9-7 win over the Red Raiders back in 1995.
NOTING THE RED RAIDERS
- The Texas Tech offense went three-and-out on its opening drive and it marked just the ninth time this season that the offense has gone three-and-out on a series.
- The Texas Tech defense came up with its first turnover since the Missouri game two weeks ago as Brandon Williams recovered a fumble inside the redzone on Baylor's first possession of the game.
- Despite going three-and-out on its first possession of the game, Tech wasted no time on its second drive as Harrell found Eric Morris over the middle for a 37-yard touchdown strike that capped a four-play, 40 second scoring drive for the Red Raiders.
- Sophomore Blake Collier registered his first career full sack when he took down Baylor QB Blake Szymanski on a second down play on the Bears' second offensive series of the game. He came into today's game having only picked up a half sack against SMU earlier this season.
- True freshman Aaron Crawford, who made his first career start last week at Colorado, scored his first career touchdown on the Red Raiders' third possession of the first quarter. Crawford scored on a three-yard run that capped of a 10-play, 78-yard drive. It also marked the first rushing touchdown by the Red Raider offense since the Texas A&M game.
- Freshman Jonathan LaCour tallied a career-long 60-yard punt early in the second quarter. LaCour's kick came out of the Tech endzone as the Red Raiders were held to a three-and-out situation on their fourth offensive series of the game. His previous long was a 56-yard punt at Oklahoma State in late September.
- Danny Amendola's 65-yard punt return in the third quarter marked the second longest of his Texas Tech career. His career-long was a 90-yard return for a touchdown his freshman season against Kansas State.
