LUBBOCK, Texas - San Francisco, Calif. is the locale for the No. 38-ranked Texas Tech women's golf team as it concludes its fall season at the USF/Richmond Country Club Invitational Monday and Tuesday.
Tech will be seeking its second team title of the fall when it takes to the 5,955-yard, par-71 Richmond Country Club. Eight other teams, including two top 50 squads, will join the Lady Raiders. Those include No. 49 San Francisco, No. 45 Oregon, Boise State, Campbell, UC Davis, UC Irvine, Toledo and UNLV.
Last week, the Lady Raiders fought windy weather to finish fourth at the Pat Bradley Championship in Fort Myers, Fla. Tech finished with a 46-over 910 after firing rounds of 297, 303 and 310. The Lady Raiders were just one-stroke back of the leaders after the first two rounds, but strong winds caught up with Tech to cause some problems over the final 18 holes. Two Lady Raiders finished among the top 10 individually as junior Tracy Stanford turned in three-over 219 to come in fourth place and Ulrika Van Niekerk shot a six-over 222 to finish in seventh. Rosalyn Kim and Gloriana Soto also finished in the top 20 with 13th and 14th place finishes, respectively.
Tech coach Stacey Totman will look to Megan Dowdy, Kim, Soto and Van Niekerk for strong showings. Stanford and freshman Alex Gibson will also play into the mix for the Lady Raiders.
Action tees off Monday at 8 a.m. PST with the first 36 holes being played. The final round will be played Tuesday.
