Tech Leads After Two Rounds in San Francisco

LUBBOCK, Texas - After two rounds of play Monday at the USF/Richmond Country Club Invitational in San Francisco, Calif., No. 38 Texas Tech sits in first place at 38-over 606. The Lady Raiders lead a tight three-team pack by one stroke with 18 holes to play.
Trailing Tech in a second-place tie is UC Davis and UNLV at 39-over 607. They are followed by Boise State in fourth and No. 45 Oregon in fifth. UC Irvine, host University of San Francisco, Campbell and Toledo round out the remainder of the standings.
Tech opened up the day with an opening-round best 305 to take the lead after 18 holes. A solid one-over 72 from junior Ulrika Van Niekerk sparked the Lady Raiders to a 301 in the second round to keep them in the lead by one stroke.
Van Niekerk led the way for Tech with a six-over 148 to put her in sixth place through the first two rounds. Megan Dowdy carded a nine-over 151, including a second-round 74, to finish the day in 12 th place. Rosalyn Kim fired a 13-over 155, while Gloriana Soto, 14-over 146, and Tracy Stanford, 18-over 160, rounded off the team scoring for the Lady Raiders. Tech had two compete individually as Jackie Smith notched a 160 and Stephanie Smith recorded a 161.
Tuesday's final round will tee off in the morning. Official tee times were not available.
