Garland and Templeton Advances in Consolation Bracket at ITA Regionals

LUBBOCK, Texas - Three Lady Raiders advance to the quarterfinals of the consolation bracket as the Texas Tech's women tennis squad competed at the ITA Southwest Regional Championships held on the campus of TCU.
Sophomore Simone Templeton advanced to the quarterfinals of the consolation bracket by beating Lucy Forward of Texas State 6-4, 6-1. She plays Julie Mazinova of Louisiana-Monroe tomorrow at 9 a.m.
The duo of senior Samantha van der Drift and Sophomore Kelsy Garland fell to Macall Harkins and Anna Sydorska of TCU 8-3. The team plays Nicole Kantor and Whitney Wolf of LSU in the consolation bracket tomorrow.
Van der Drift lost to TCU's Macall Harkins 6-1, 6-0 in the second round of the open singles draw. She bounced back beating Madura Ranganathan of North Texas 4-6 to advance to the quarterfinals of the consolation draw. Julie Chao of Rice will be her competition at 9 a.m. Sunday morning.
Garland fell in her consolation matchto Irina Paraschiv of North Texas 6-1, 6-1. She advanced to the quarterfinals in her second consolation match by beating Roxana Enica of Stephen F. Austin 6-4, 6-2. Garland plays Sophie Quist of SMU at 9 a.m.
The Lady Raiders wraps up the ITA Southwest Regional Championships tomorrow with play starting at 9 a.m.
