Golfers Finish in Third Place at McHaney/Morehead

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech's women's golf team dropped a spot in the final team standings and finished in a tie for third place with Colorado at the McHaney/Morehead Invitational.
The Lady Raiders shot a final day 310 to finish the tournament 44-over 920. Arkansas-Little Rock shot the best team round of the tournament on the final round, shooting a 297 to win the tournament with a 32-over 908. Baylor finished in second with a 37-over 913.
The rest of the field finished with Nebraska (922), Missouri (928), Kansas (943), Middle Tennessee St. (945), Redlands Community College (958), North Texas (959), Kansas State (963), Texas-San Antonio (966) and Sam Houston State (968).
Senior Ulrika Van Niekerk led the Lady Raiders with a fifth-place finish. She shot a four-over 77 for the final round and ended up with a seven-over 226 for the tournament. Sophomore Alex Gibson jumped up two spots to finish seventh shooting an eight-over 227.
Senior Megan Dowdy shot 11-over 230 for the tournament and finished 11th. Sophomore Jackie Smith carded a 19-over 238 for the tournament and 32nd place and junior Rosalyn Kim finished the tournament with a 21-over 240 to place 46th.
The Lady Raiders playing as individuals fared well in the tournament. Senior Gloriana Soto placed 17th overall. She shot a final round 81 to finish the tournament at 13-over 232. Senior Tracy Stanford finished the tournament in 26th place with a three-day score of 17-over 236. Sophomore Robyn Scott carded a 83 for her final round and placed 67th overall. Freshman Ali Williams improved her score from yesterday as she shot an 83 and finish the tournament in 73rd place.
"I am really proud of our overall effort. We let some shots get away from us today, but this helps give us confidence going into the Big 12 in the spring," head coach Stacey Totman said. "We know we have some things that we need to work before we head to Las Vegas, but we have time to get our games in order."
The Lady Raiders travel to Las Vegas, Nev., for the UNLV Invite that starts on Mon., Oct., 27th.
