LUBBOCK, Texas - The men's tennis team continues their road campaign traveling to Fort Worth, Texas, for a pair of weekend matches. No. 31 Texas Tech will face Arkansas-Little Rock on Sat., Feb. 16, and No. 63 TCU on Sun., Feb. 17, at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
In Las Vegas last weekend Tech came out ahead over UNLV and San Diego, winning both matches 5-2. Tech's doubles continued their dominance, led by the No. 10-ranked duo of Christian Rojmar and Bojan Szumanski. The bottom half of the lineup stepped up for the Red Raiders with veterans Michael Breler and Rojmar holding down the No. 5 and 6 positions. The remaining singles lineup split their two matches, as No. 50 Szumanski defeated his second ranked opponent this season in straight sets.
The Horned Frogs will play host to both the Red Raiders and the Trojans. TCU has won 26 of their last 28 meetings against Tech, and currently boast three ranked singles players. The Horned Frog's No. 27 Cosmin Cotet, No. 54 Adrian Simon and No. 94 Texas-native Zach Nichols lead their team in singles, while No. 44 Cotet and Kriegler Brink top their doubles lineup. The Red Raiders currently hold the advantage over UALR 7-2, but the Trojans sit 7-3 on the season winning their last two matches.
Play is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. on Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday, weather pending. If unfavorable conditions persist, the matches will be played at the Seay Tennis Center in Dallas. For complete results, log on to the men's tennis page at www.texastech.com.
