Texas Tech 16, UTSA 6 -- Postgame Notes
February 25, 2008 | Baseball
Feb. 25, 2008
- Senior Jason Seefeld made his defensive debut this afternoon as he got the staring nod at third base. He had surgery to repair a torn ACL in his left knee back in October and received partial clearance by the Tech medical staff prior to the season opener. He played the first three games of this weekend tournament as the designated hitter.
- Texas Tech plated 10 runs in the top of the first inning and it marked the first time since the Dallas Baptist game back on Feb. 16, 2007 (11 runs in the fourth inning) that the Red Raiders had scored 10 or more runs in a frame. The last time that Tech faced UTSA, the Red Raiders also put up a 10-spot in an inning as Tech dropped 10 runs on the Roadrunners in the fourth inning in a 22-7 win back on Feb. 22, 2005.
- Texas Tech now leads the overall series against UTSA 4-0.
- Junior right fielder Roger Kieschnick moved into a tie for eighth place on the school's career triples list this afternoon as he picked up his ninth. He is tied with former Tech All-American Jason Totman who had nine during his two-year career back in 1994-95.
