LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech Red Raiders face the Aggies of Texas A&M on Wednesday at 7:00 PM (Central Time) in College Station, Texas. The game will be telecast on ESPN Plus. Dave Armstrong will call the play-by-play. Reid Gettys will provide the game analysis.
In Lubbock, the game can be seen on KLCW-TV. DISH Network will provide coverage on Channel 22. Suddenlink Cable will have the game on Channel 17. NTS Communications will carry the game on Channel 9.
Mark Finkner will call the courtside action along with Corky Oglesby as analyst on the Texas Tech Sports Network local stations KQBR-FM 99.5 and KKAM-AM 1340. Sirius Radio will broadcast the game on Channel 140.
The Aggies and the Red Raiders are meeting for the 117th time since the series began on December 17, 1941. Texas Tech leads the series 63-53. Tech has a 36-17 margin when the teams have played in Lubbock and a 5-4 edge on neutral courts. A&M leads the series in College Station, 32-22.
Last season, Texas Tech won in Lubbock (70-68) on January 24 and in College Station (77-75) on February 13. In the first meeting of the 2007-2008 season, the Red Raiders won in Lubbock (68-53) on January 16. Martin Zeno led both teams in scoring with 19 points.
Texas Tech completed non-conference play win nine wins and five losses. The Red Raiders are 6-6 in conference play.
They opened the 2007-2008 conference season with a loss on the road on January 12 to Oklahoma, 74-55. The Red Raider squad gave Coach Bob Knight his 900th career win as they dropped # 9/10 Texas A&M on January 16, 68-53. Tech lost a close game at OU, 63-61, on January 19 before topping Missouri, 92-84 at the United Spirit Arena on January 23. The Raiders lost at Texas, 73-47 and then returned to the United Spirit Arena for their 67-60 win over Oklahoma State on February 2.
Coach Pat Knight's collegiate coaching debut was spoiled by Baylor's 80-74 win in Waco on February 6. Nebraska topped the Red Raiders in Lincoln, 73-62 before the Red Raiders won at home against # 18/22 KSU, 84-75. The Red Raiders lost their first home game of the season on February 16 to Oklahoma, 66-64.
On February 20, Texas Tech won their first road game in conference play as they topped Colorado, 87-69. The Red Raiders topped the ISU Cyclones at home on February 23, 76-64.
Martin Zeno leads the Red Raiders in scoring with 16.3 ppg. Alan Voskuil is averaging 13.4 ppg while John Roberson adds 12.3 ppg.
The Red Raiders are averaging 70.5 ppg for the season.
The Aggies were 14-1 in non-conference play and are 6-6 in conference play. The opened conference play with a win over CU and then lost at Texas Tech, at KSU, and to BU. A&M then won their next five games -- at OSU, UT, OU, at ISU, and at Missouri. Texas A&M has lost their last three games -- OU, at Texas, and Nebraska.
Josh Carter leads his team with 12.8 ppg while Joseph Jones is averaging 10.9 ppg. A&M has three players scoring just under ten points per game in Donald Sloan (9.6), DeAndre Jordan (9.0), and Bryan Davis (9.0).
Texas A&M is averaging 73.2 ppg.
Texas Tech returns to the United Spirit Arena on Saturday, March 1 for their 3:00 PM (CT) game against Texas.
