- Texas Tech Head Coach Larry Hays earned the 800th career win of his 22-year tenure as the skipper of the Red Raiders. He is now just five wins away from picking up the 1,500th win of his entire career that spans 38 years ands stops at both Tech and Lubbock Christian University.
- Texas leads the all-time series 94-33. The win over the Longhorns snaps a five-game losing streak to Texas as Tech's last win over the in-state rival came on March 18, 2006 here in Lubbock.
- Tanner Rindels picked up his second three-hit and three-RBI game of the season and earned his second home run of the year.
- Chris Hall has now hit safely in the last 11 games and that ties his career high that he set during his freshman campaign in 2007.
- Junior closer Zach Stewart logged a career-high 2 2/3 innings of relief and picked up his third save of the season. Texas Tech is now 11-0 when leading after the seventh inning.
