LUBBOCK, Texas - Seniors Bojan Szumanski and Ilya Babinciuc played in their final home match of 2008 today as Texas Tech notched in their 19th season win over the Nebraska Cornhuskers, 7-0. The Red Raider's got its 12th doubles victory today with wins from all three courts. Tech's Christian Rojmar and Szumanski were ahead 6-2 before the Huskers Renao Melo and Tobias Schneider retired due to an injury suffered during the match. Ramos was the next player to sink in a win as he defeated Hendrik Stahmer 10-3 in the third set super-tiebreaker. Senior Babinciuc also capped his Red Raider career with his 26th season win as he took Van Impe in three sets, placing himself in a six-way tie in Tech's record book for single season victories with teammates Szumanski and Markovic.
"Nebraska is a much better team than the score showed today," commented co-captain Szumanski after sinking in his 88th career singles victory at Texas Tech. "I'm relieved that I could finish this weekend with two wins, and I would like to thank my team and the fans for all of their support.
