Lady Raiders Surge to a Second Place Finish

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech used a program best 18-hole score of 7-under 281 in its final round, to surge to a second place finish at the Heather Farr/CU Invitational.
The Lady Raiders shot 1-under 863 for the tournament, which is a program best 54-hole total, to beat Big 12 foe Colorado among others.
Senior Ulrika Van Niekerk was the top Lady Raider as she shot 72 for the last round to finish in sixth place with a 4-under 212 for the tournament. Senior Megan Dowdy shot a 68 to jump up to a tie for 13th and recorded a 1-under 215. Sophomore Alex Gibson finished in a tie for 13th with a final-round 70 and shot an even 216.
Other Lady Raiders include junior Rosalyn Kim finished in a tie for 24th with a 4-over 220 and sophomore Jackie Smith tied for 69th with a 16-over 232. Sophomore Robyn Scott competed as an individual and shot a 24-over 240 to finish in a tie for 90th.
"I was really proud of the team. They fought so hard today for every shot," head coach Stacey Totman said after the tournament. "We had two back to back sub par rounds and that is a big boost to our confidence. They have been working a lot on their short games and it is paying off. It is a great momentum for us going into our home event next week."
No. 24 Notre Dame won the team title shooting a 6-under 858 over three rounds.
The Lady Raiders host the McHaney/Morehead tournament at The Rawls Course on Mon., Oct. 6th and Tues., Oct. 7th starting at 8:30 a.m.
