Red Raiders Host Longhorns on Saturday

Lubbock, TX - The Texas Tech Red Raiders (10-6, 0-1) begin Big 12 Conference play at home as they host the Texas Longhorns (12-4, 1-1) on Saturday, January 17. Tipoff at the United Spirit Arena will be at 3:00 PM.
Dave Armstrong will call the play-by-play. Dan Hughes will provide the game analysis.
The game will be televised by the Big 12 Network. For the first time this season, regionally syndicated games will be televised on the Big 12 Network as part of the conference's agreement with ESPN Regional Television.
The games, previously branded as ESPN Plus, are broadcast throughout the conference's geographic footprint. Many of the Big 12 Network games will also be available as part of ESPN Full Court, the pay subscription college basketball outer-market service. In addition, numerous games will be available 72 hours after completion via the newly-redesigned Big 12 web site at big12sports.com.
In Lubbock, Saturday's game can be seen on KJTV-TV (FOX). In the Lubbock market, FOX34 is available over-the-air on Channel 34 and digital channel 34. It is also available on SuddenLink Channel 10, Dish Network Channel 34, and NTS Channel 10.
ESPN is also scheduled to air the game as a part of their Full-Court package. The game will be featured online via ESPN360.com -- ESPN's signature broadband sports TV network.
Mark Finkner will call Saturday's action against the Longhorns along with analyst Corky Oglesby on the Texas Tech Sports Network local station KKAM-AM 1340.
This is the 122nd meeting between the two teams. Overall, Texas leads the series 68-53. The Red Raiders lead the series in Lubbock 29-22. The Longhorns have a 39-21 margin in Austin, and a 7-3 edge on neutral courts.
Texas Tech dropped their conference opener at Baylor last Saturday, 73-61. Texas topped Iowa State in Austin on Saturday (75-67) and then lost at Oklahoma on Tuesday, 78-63.
Four Red Raiders are averaging double figures for the season. Alan Voskuil and John Roberson are each averaging 14.4 points per game. Nick Okorie is scoring 10.8 points per game. Mike Singletary is dropping in 10.4 points per game.
Texas has three players averaging double figures for this season. A.J. Abrams tops his squad with 17.8 points per game. Damion James is scoring 14.7 points per game. Abrams and James have started each game for the Longhorns. Gary Johnson has not started this season, but comes off the bench to score 10.9 points per game.
The Red Raiders host Colorado at the United Spirit Arena on Tuesday, January 20 at 7:00 PM. The game will be televised by the Texas Tech Television Network.
Hoop-Fest, the first Red Raider tailgate for men's basketball, will be held indoors and across the street from the United Spirit Arena at the Animal and Food Sciences carpeted livestock arena beginning at 11:30 AM until 2:30 PM on Saturday.
Weather permitting, the Hoop-Fest entrance will be highlighted by the Plains Capital hot air balloon.
Admission is free for Texas Tech students with a valid student ID card and for everyone holding a ticket for the Texas Tech / Texas men's game. Tech students who attend Hoop-Fest will be given wristbands for special student seating at the game.
Tailgaters can enjoy free hamburgers, hot dogs, and soft drinks as they listen to live musical performances by The Shock! and the Hogg Maulies.
KAMC-TV, with host David Collier, will televise a live half hour show from Hoop-Fest featuring Coach Pat Knight and other Texas Tech guests.
The Texas Tech Athletic Ticket Office is now offering special Big 12 conference ticket packages for men's and women's basketball. For those fans excited about the upcoming seasons that cannot make it to every game, Texas Tech's new ticket packages may be just the right fit.
The ticket office at the United Spirit will open at 11:00 AM on Saturday.
