COLUMBIA, Mo. - Barbara Conceicao had seven kills and committed no errors, but it was as much offense as Tech could manage and Missouri beat the Red Raiders in straight sets in Big 12 volleyball action. With the win Missouri improves to 12-6, 4-3, while the loss drops the struggling Red Raiders to 2-13, 0-6.
Paola Ampudia led all players with 12 kills and Julianna Klein added 10 as the Tigers outblasted Tech in the all-important offensive category, 43-24.
Conceicao and Amanda Dowdy each managed seven, but Tech also committed 21 errors, thereby negating virtually every kill they posted in an error-prone outing.
Dowdy led the Red Raiders defensively with nine digs on the evening. Defensive specialist Jenn Goehry added six and setter Karlyn Meyers (19 assists) was forced to dig the ball five times in the effort as well.
Tech next travels to Colorado on Wednesday, Oct. 14, for a mid-week match in Boulder.
