
COWBOY JAMOBOREE AWAITS TECH'S CROSS COUNTRY RUNNERS

LUBBOCK, Texas - The No. 30 Texas Tech Lady Raiders and Red Raiders cross country teams will head to Stillwater, Okla., for their first big meet of the year as a combined five ranked teams will run on both the men's and women's side at the Oklahoma State Cowboy Jamboree Sat., Oct. 3.
The meet will feature No. 2 Oklahoma State, No. 5 Northern Arizona, No.11 Tulsa and No. 13 William and Mary on the men's side, while No. 16 Northern Arizona and No. 30 Texas Tech will be the ranked teams on the women's side.
Both squads are coming off two-straight team titles at the Texas Tech Ruidoso Open and the Texas Tech Open. Gilbert Limo has led the Red Raiders this season as he has won both individual meets he has ran in this year.
The men's squad has been added with the strong running of Cory Higgins, Silas Kemboi and Zach Quinones. Higgins has finished second and sixth in his last two races while Quinones crossed the line in fourth and eighth. Kemboi has competed well with third and seventh place finishes at both meets so far.
The Lady Raiders head to the Cowboy Jamboree ranked No. 30 by the U.S Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. Tech dropped six spots after being ranked No. 24 in the preseason. The squad has dominated both races it has competed in with numerous top 10 finishes.
Seven of the Lady Raiders finished in the top 10 of the Texas Tech Open lead by All-American Lilian Badaru's second place finish. Purity Biwott (third), Gladys Kipsang (fourth), Caroline Karunde (fifth), Winrose Karunde (sixth), Michelle Guzman (seventh) and Kaci Westervelt (ninth) all finished in the top 10 of the Texas Tech Open.
The men's squad will have a tough road ahead as #2 Oklahoma State will be the favorites to win the men's side. The women will competing head to head with No.16 Northern Arizona who is ranked No. 1 in the Mountain Region. The Lady Raiders are No. 5 in the Mountain Region rankings.
The race will be at the Oklahoma State Cross Country Course in Stillwater, Okla. The university women are set to start at 9:10 a.m. with the men to follow at 9:45 a.m.
