Red Raiders Host McNeese State at 2 PM

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech Red Raiders host the Cowboys of McNeese State on New Year's Day at 2 p.m.
All general admission seats are $1 for Friday's game. Tickets can be purchased in advance by calling the Athletic Ticket Office at 742-4412 or can be purchased on game day at the United Spirit Arena.
The Red Raiders (10-2) and the Cowboys (5-7) will be meeting for the second time since their initial meeting on December 2, 1977. The Red Raiders won that meeting in Lubbock, 69-56.
McNeese State of Lake Charles, Louisiana, opened their season at the Rainbow Classic with losses to Northern Colorado, Hawaii, and Southern Utah. Since then, they have wins over Louisiana College, UL-Lafayette, Paul Quinn, Tulane, and Southern-New Orleans. They also have losses to Samford, Ole Miss, Louisiana Tech, and Rice.
After twelve games, McNeese State has averaged 67.3 points per game while allowing opponents 67.6 points per game. The Cowboys have two players averaging double figures for the season. Diego Kapelan is scoring 13.1 points per game and Patrick Richard is adding 12.2 points per game.
Texas Tech holds down the 20th spot in this week's Associated Press rankings after their 100-87 win over Stanford last week. The Red Raiders are No. 24 in the ESPN/USA Today Poll.
The Red Raiders are 2-2 in road games this season after losing their most recent game to No. 19/17 New Mexico on December 29, 90-75. The Raiders have earlier road wins at SFA and at TCU with the two road losses being at Wichita State and at New Mexico.
Texas Tech is averaging 80.2 points per game for season and has three players posting double figures with Mike Singletary leading the squad with 14.8 points per game. John Roberson is averaging 13.8 points per game with David Tairu adding 12.2 points per game.
On New Year's Day, Mark Finkner will call the courtside action along with analyst Corky Oglesby on the Texas Tech Sports Network flagship station Double T 104.3.
Texas Tech is back in action at the United Spirit Arena on January 3 against UTEP with the game starting at 2 PM.
