Lubbock, TX - The Texas Tech Red Raiders (12-15, 2-10) travel to Austin for their Wednesday night game against the Texas Longhorns (18-8, 7-5) at the Erwin Center.
The game will tip at 8:30 PM (Central) on ESPN2.
Ron Franklin will call the play-by-play. Fran Fraschilla will provide the game analysis.
Mark Finkner will call the Wednesday night action against the Longhorns along with analyst Corky Oglesby on the Texas Tech Sports Network local station Sports Radio 1340.
Texas Tech and Texas are meeting for the 123rd time since the series began on December 15, 1939. Overall, Texas leads the series 69-53. The Red Raiders lead the series in Lubbock, 29 - 23. The Longhorns lead the series in Austin, 39 - 21. Texas leads on neutral courts, 7 - 3
Texas is 18-8 for the season and 7-5 in Big 12 play. The Longhorns have three players averaging double figures for the season. A.J. Abrams leads his team with 17.1 points per game. Damion James is next with 15.6 points per game. Gary Johnson scores 11.3 points per game.
In Lubbock earlier this season, the Longhorns held a six-point lead at the half, 30-24. Texas made 15-of-33 field goal attempts to Texas Tech's 8-of-22 attempts in the second half for a 16-point advantage, 41-25, for the 71-49 Texas win.
Alan Voskuil was the leading scorer for the Red Raiders with 12 points.
Damion James' 18 points was the top mark for the Longhorns.
Sophomore John Roberson leads the Texas Tech squad with 14.1 points and 6.6 assists per game while Alan Voskuil is dropping in 14.0 points and is shooting 45.4 percent from beyond the three-point line. Mike Singletary is averaging 10.6 points off the bench. Junior Nick Okorie is averaging 10.5 points per game.
At the beginning of the week, Alan Voskuil and John Roberson were among the nation's leaders in several categories. Alan is eighth nationally in three-point field goal percentage at 44.9 percent. He is fifth among all Division 1 players in free-throw percentage with 90.3 percent. John's 6.6 assists per game for the season ranks seventh nationally.
Texas Tech returns to the United Spirit Arena on Saturday, February 28 for their 2:30 PM game against the Oklahoma Sooners.
The last Red Raider conference home game and "Senior Night" will tip on Wednesday, March 4 at 8:30 PM against the Kansas Jayhawks.
