LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech women's tennis squad won its first road match 6-1 over Air Force as all six Lady Raider won their single matches.
The Lady Raiders (2-1) started the day off by losing the double point 2-1. Samantha van der Drift and Kelsy Garland beat Erlyn Rudico and Samantha Sarkis 8-1.
Air Force took the next two matches as the duo of Christine Abayan and Sarah Cassman beat Simone Templeton and Kerryn Potgieter 8-5.
The doubles point was clinched by a 9-7 by Allie Chermel and Christen Monreal over Natalie Leitch and Stefanie Peana.
Tech roared back in the single matches as it took every match by straight sets. Van der Drift beat Abayan 6-3, 6-1. Garland won the second point with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Chermel.
Leitch won her first singles match of the spring beating Monreal 6-3, 6-1. Templeton clinched the match with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Katrina Eromin.
Peana moved her record to 3-0 on the year with a 6-1, 6-3 victory of Cassman and Potgieter completed the singles domination with a 6-2, 6-3 defeat of Sarkis. Tech will return to the court tomorrow against Denver University with action starting at 9 a.m. MST.
