Men's Tennis to Compete in Blue Gray Classic

LUBBOCK, Texas - The No. 33 Texas Tech men's tennis team continues its road swing by competing in the prestigious Blue Gray National Tennis Classic in Montgomery, Ala., March 19-22.
The Blue Gray National Tennis Classic consists of 16 nationally-ranked teams: No. 4 Tennessee, No. 22 Boise State, No. 24 Alabama, No. 25 Oklahoma State, No. 26 Notre Dame, No. 29 Wisconsin, No. 30 Auburn, No. 33 Texas Tech, No. 41 Oklahoma, No. 43 Fresno State, No. 48 Mississippi State, No. 54 Virginia Commonwealth, No. 55 Penn State, No. 56 Middle Tennessee State, No. 61 William and Mary and No. 75 Hawaii.
In their first match on Thurs., March 19, the Red Raiders face No. 54 Virginia Commonwealth at 8:30 a.m., at the Lagoon Park Tennis Center in Montgomery, Ala.
The Red Raiders (8-5) headed to Alabama after playing three matches in California last week. Tech lost a heartbreaker to then No. 13 USC, 4-3 on March 12, and then fell in another 4-3 match to then No. 44 San Diego State on March 13. Tech got win over then No. 59 UNLV, 6-1, on March 14.
Tech will be back in action in Lubbock on Sat., March 28, against Lamar at 3 p.m., before opening Big 12 play at Texas A&M on Fri., April 3, at 6 p.m.
