- Texas Tech now leads the all-time series 9-1 as the Islanders staked their first win over the Red Raiders.
- Freshman third baseman Justin Berry hit his first career home run in the ninth inning to pull the Red Raiders within two runs. He has now hit safely in 17 of Tech's 19 games this season.
- Senior first baseman Chris Richburg extended his hit streak to six games with a base hit in the top of the ninth.
- The Red Raiders are now just 1-8 on the road this season and have lost two-straight.
