- Despite tonight's loss, Texas Tech still leads the all-time series against Texas State 6-5. The Bobcats, however, have won the last three meetings dating back to the 2003 season.
- Texas Tech committed four errors on the night (tied season high) and allowed a season-high six unearned runs. The last time Tech allowed 5-plus unearned runs was at Baylor on March 25, 2007 - exactly two years to the day.
- Freshman catcher Kevin Whitehead's double off the wall in right field in the top of the fifth ended a stretch of 19 at-bats without a hit. Prior to tonight, his last hit came in the fourth inning at Cal-State Northridge on Feb. 28.
- Freshman designated hitter Nick Hanslik notched his first career hit with a single to center field off of Texas State starter Matt Steiner.
- Junior right fielder Taylor Ashby led the Tech offense on the night as he went 3-for-4 with an RBI, two runs scored and two doubles. He is now tied for the team lead with 10 multiple-hit games.
