Three Lady Raider Linksters Set For WTGA Amateur

LUBBOCK, Texas - Three Lady Raider golfers will hit the links today as part of the 2009 Women's Texas Golf Association State Amateur Championship being held at Ridgewood Country Club in Waco, July 27-31. Texas Tech is being represented in the tournament by Rosalyn Kim, Alex Gibson and incoming freshman Gabby Dominguez.
The WTGA State Amateur is widely considered as the most prestigious women's golf event in the state of Texas each year. Out of 96 total players, the top 32 will compete for the state amateur champion while 64 players of all handicaps will compete in four flights.
Junior Alex Gibson, a native of Henderson, Nev., finished the 2008-09 season having competed in 10 events and averaged a 77.6. Her best finish of the season was a seventh place tie at the McHaney/Morehead Invitational in Lubbock.
Senior Rosalyn Kim ended the year with an impressive 76.0 average through 10 events. Her highest finish was fourth place at the Canes/Cardinal Classic in Miami, Fla.
Incoming freshman Gabby Dominguez has won the last four Class 1A State Championships at Chilton High School in Chilton, Texas. Dominguez wrapped up a stellar high school career having never lost a district, regional or state championship in her career.
The 2009 WTGA State Amateur Championship will be held at the top rated venue, Ridgewood Country Club in Waco, TX. Located in the heart of Texas on Lake Waco, Ridgewood is known for its spectacular Bermuda fairways and bent grass greens.
