Men's Tennis Gears Up for 2009-10 Season

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech men's tennis team will begin its fall tournaments this month and prior to starting the season the team had its annual photo shoot at the McLeod Tennis Center.
The Red Raiders boast a 10-man roster that includes three returning letterwinners, two redshirt freshmen and five newcomers.
Tech's top returner is sophomore Raony Carvalho, who is preseason No. 25 in the country in singles. Carvalho was All-Big 12 in singles and doubles and the Big 12 Freshman of the Year last spring. He also competed in the NCAA Championships in both singles and doubles.
Among Tech's newcomers is sophomore Rafael Garcia, who is the highest-ranked player to ever come to Tech as he is currently the 580th-ranked player in the world, and will battle for the top position in the lineup. Carvalho and Garcia are preseason ranked 28th in doubles.
Tech opens its fall season by competing in the Midland Racquet Club Invitational Sept. 18-20, in Midland, Texas.
