LUBBOCK,, Texas - The Texas Tech Red Raiders host the UTEP Miners on Sunday at the United Spirit Arena with the game beginning at 2 p.m.
All general admission seats are $3 for Sunday's game. Tickets can be purchased in advance by calling the Athletic Ticket Office at 742-4412 or can be purchased on game day at the United Spirit Arena.
Additionally, men's basketball season ticket holders can bring two friends to the game free. Visit a box office window on game day, show your season ticket, and receive two complimentary general admission tickets for your guests!
The Red Raiders and the Miners are meeting for the 50th time since the series began on January 9, 1931. Texas Tech leads the series 35-14. The Red Raiders have won 21 of the 25 meetings in Lubbock while the Miners have won 14 of the 24 games played in El Paso.
The Miners opened their season with five wins before losing two games and then winning their next four games. Their opening wins were over Texas Southern, Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Arkansas State, North Carolina A&T, and at New Mexico State.
The two UTEP losses were against New Mexico State and an overtime loss to Ole Miss.
The Miners next four wins were over Alcorn State, Oklahoma, Norfolk State, and Air Force.
The Miners have five players averaging double figures for the season. Randy Culpepper leads his squad with 18.7 points per game. He is joined by Arnett Moultrie (12.8), Derrick Caracter (12.2), Christian Polk (11.8), and Jeremy Williams (10.9).
Texas Tech holds down the 20th spot in this week's Associated Press rankings and the Red Raiders are No. 24 in the ESPN/USA Today Poll.
The Red Raiders (11-2) defeated McNeese State (5-8) on New Year's Day, 76-75. Mike Singletary led all scorers with 27 points. Nick Okorie dropped in 13 points, John Roberson scored 12 points, and David Tairu added 10 points.
Texas Tech is averaging 82.1 points per game for season and has three players posting double figures with Mike Singletary leading the squad with 15.8 points per game. John Roberson is averaging 13.6 points per game with David Tairu adding 12.0 points per game.
Sunday's game will be televised on the Texas Television Sports Network (TTSN). Brian Jensen will provide the play-by-play. John Harris will add the game analysis.
