LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech women's golf squad will challenge one of its toughest field of the fall on Monday when the Lady Raiders open the Lady Northern Invitational, held at the Lake Shore Country Club in Glencoe, Ill.
The Lady Raiders are returning to the state of Illinois for the second week in a row as Tech finished third at the Windy City Collegiate Championship a week ago. Tech will play 36 holes on Monday and conclude the tournament with the final 18 on Tuesday.
Kim Kaufman posted her second-consecutive top-five finish at the Windy City Collegiate, finishing in fourth overall, matching her performance at the season-opening Ptarmigan Ram Classic. Gabby Dominguez joined Kaufman in the top 10 after completing the three rounds in a tie for sixth.
Tech will get the chance to see how it compares against a different conference - The Big 10 - as 10 league members are entered in the tournament. The only two schools participating in the 12-team tournament and not members of the Big 10 are Iowa State and Tech. The Lake Shore Country Club is also the site for the 2011 Big 10 Women's Golf Championships.
First round action begins with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start and continues into Monday's second round which is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. Fans can keep up with the action through the live stats application at www.golfstat.com
