- Tonight's game was televised nationally on Fox College Sports with Steve Physioc, Yogi Roth and Samantha Steele. Tonight's game marked the first appearance for Texas Tech on FCS. The game also marked the 9th-consecutive television appearance for the Red Raiders.
- Tonight's game marked the ninth meeting between Texas Tech and Iowa State and Tech's first appearance in Ames since 2006.

IOWA STATE SNAPS TECH'S STREAK AGAINST THE BIG 12 NORTH
Texas Tech's six-game win streak against Big 12 North Division opponents came to an end tonight with Iowa State's 52-38 win over the Red Raiders. Texas Tech went 3-0 against the Big 12 North in both 2008 and 2009 to set the streak. Prior to tonight, Tech's last loss against a Big 12 North division opponent was at home against Colorado in 2007.WR Lyle Leong
- Caught three touchdown passes, giving him nine for the season.
- Marks his fourth career game with three touchdowns which is a career-high.
- Marked third career 100-yard receiving game. He finished with 9 catches for 125 yards.
- He has caught at least one touchdown pass in every game this season and has six-straight games with a receiving touchdown dating back to last season.
- His second touchdown pass of the game marked his seventh career multiple touchdown game and his third of the season.
- His third touchdown gave him 22 for his career which moved him into a tie fifth place on the school's career touchdowns list with Mickey Peters (2000-03). He moved past Carlos Francis (2000-03), Wes Welker (2000-03) and Nehemiah Glover (2001-04).

QB Taylor Potts
- Moved into seventh place on the school's career completions list as he now owns 483.
- Moved into seventh place on the school's career passing yards list. He owns 5,296 yards for his career.
- Moved into sixth place on the school's career passing touchdowns list. He owns 40 passing touchdowns for his career.
- Collected his 9th career 300-yard passing game as he finished with 377 yards passing.
- Five touchdown passes marks the ninth career multiple touchdown performance and the third time in his career with at least four. It is the second time this season (SMU - 4) he has thrown for at least four touchdowns.

NOTING THE RED RAIDERS
- Texas Tech lined up in the Wildcat formation for the first time this season on the first offensive drive of the game. Senior receiver Detron Lewis took the snap and rushed the ball for a five yard gain and a first down.
- Trailing 24-0 with just under a minute to play in the second quarter, sophomore running back Eric Stephens put the Red Raiders on the board with a 11-yard touchdown catch that made the score 24-7 in favor of the Cyclones. The touchdown reception was the first of his career.
- A botched punt by Iowa State with 15 seconds left in the first half, eventually led to Tech' second touchdown of the game. It took quarterback Taylor Potts just one play to find Lyle Leong in the end zone for a 20-yard touchdown strike. The touchdown made the score 24-14 in favor of Iowa State and was the seventh of the year for Leong.
- Senior placekicker Matt Williams connected on a 24-yard field goal with 10:21 remaining in the third quarter to cut the Iowa State lead to 24-17. The field goal maked three consecutive offensive possesions that produced points for the Red Raiders.
- The Tech offense scored again on its next possession to tie the game at 24-24 and completed a rally of 24 unanswered points. Lyle Leong hauled in a 21-yard touchdown pass to help the Red Raiders even the score.
- Texas Tech made the score 38-31 on a 10-yard touchdown pass to Eric Stephens, his second receiving touchdown of the game, on a 4th and 6. It marked the first fourth down attempt for Tech in the game.
