Red Raiders Home for Three Games

LUBBOCK, TX - The Texas Tech Red Raiders begin a three-game homestand on Friday evening starting with the Lumberjacks of Stephen F. Austin. The game tips at 7:00 p.m.
On Sunday, Texas Tech hosts Liberty University in a 1:00 p.m. contest with the Lady Raiders facing Idaho State thirty minutes after the conclusion of the Red Raider game.
On Tuesday, the Lady Raiders meet Mississippi Valley State at 5:30 p.m. with the Red Raiders taking on Georgia Southern thirty minutes after the Lady Raider game.
Texas Tech and Stephen F. Austin are meeting for twelfth time in the series, which began on December 28, 1937. Overall, the Red Raiders hold a 6-5 edge in the series, and they have won the previous five meetings. Last season, Texas Tech won in Nacogdoches, 63-61, in their opening road game.
The Lumberjacks opened their season with two wins. They defeated Howard Payne in their season opener, 114-49. In their last game, SFA downed Longwood 80-54.
With those wins, SFA has averaged 97.0 points per game while allowing their opponents 51.5 points per game. The Lumberjacks have two players averaging double figures over their first two games. Jereal Scott is posting 21.0 points and 7.5 rebounds per game. Darius Gardner is averaging 10.0 points and 2.0 rebounds per game. Jordan Glynn tops the squad with 10.5 rebounds per game.
The Red Raiders lost their first road game of the season at North Texas on Tuesday, 83-92, in overtime. UNT scored 18 points to Texas Tech's 9 points in the extra period to claim the win. Brad Reese led Tech's scoring with 20 points. David Tairu and Jaye Crockett each scored 14 points, Mike Singletary dropped in 13 points, and John Roberson added 11 points.
Texas Tech has four players averaging double figures for the season. Brad Reese tops the squad with 17.5 point per game. David Tairu is averaging 13.5 points per game with Mike Singletary getting 11.5 points per outing. Close behind is freshman Jaye Crockett averaging 11.0 points per contest. Crockett also leads the team in rebounding with 8.0 rebounds per game.
