EL PASO, Texas (AP) - Randy Culpepper scored 28 points to lead UTEP to an 82-71 win against Texas Tech on Saturday night.

Culpepper was 9 of 19 shooting with three 3-pointers for the Miners (8-2).

Mike Singletary scored 17 points to lead four players in double figures for the Red Raiders (5-6).

Julyan Stone had 15 points, 10 rebounds and five assists for UTEP, which beat Texas Tech for the first time since 1997.
