Head Coach Dan Spencer
On his team's performance in tonight's loss to Texas State:
"We didn't swing the bat great. We left some runners on third base. We left some two-outs. Basically the deal is, when you are talking about big innings, we gave up a four-run, three and a three, it's hard to win like that. We're trading twos for threes. When we scored, they scored. We never got out of that pattern. We just never got a guy in the game for long enough to give us some zeros, to give us a chance to close. When we closed, they separated. It's kind of been our story lately."
On Texas State's pattern of two-out rallies of big hits and runs:
"They got a lot of two-out hits. They did a good job of that. They really did. Colt (Farrar) did a nice job for a couple innings and then got in some trouble. They got a three. He competes. He did a good job for the innings prior but I don't know what the psyche is. When we score, we need to get back off the field and we just haven't been able to do that."
On his thoughts heading into the Texas A&M series this weekend:
"We'll adjust those things tomorrow. I didn't say a lot to them at the end of the night tonight. We'll adjust those things and try to correct them for A&M. We are what we are right now. We're kind of scuffling and that's a tough place to go when you're not playing well but that's what is next on the schedule."
Catcher Kevin Whitehead
On tonight's loss to Texas State:
"Our pitching needs to get a little bit better. I need to help out with that and our catchers need to help out. We need to get on the same page. Fielders need to feel as comfortable as possible and pick everything up. It's just making some good pitches and borderline calls. That's where we need our pen guys to be successful."
On the key errors in tonight's loss:
"Whenever you're going through a stretch like this, every little mistake is magnified. Whenever it's going bad, something bad happens, it usually never goes your way. Breaks aren't fallen. And they aren't right now."
On the team's confidence right now going into Texas A&M series this weekend:
"That's the one good news. It's a fresh start. Everyone's going to be fired up for Big 12 play, be locked in and ready to go. Not that we haven't been locked in, but it's a little more on the line. We've got some old guys and young guys are going to help out so we're going to be just fine."
On getting the team's confidence back up and ready for conference:
"That's not much you can do. If you win in conference, that's going to get you into postseason. Then go from there. The midweek's that we have spread out, we have to be as good as possible. It's going to be a team effort from everybody, as corny as that sounds."
On the game changes during tonight's loss to Texas State:
"One of those things, when thing's are going bad and mistakes are magnified, I don't block a ball that I probably should've gotten over and blocked, they go score a run. That's just how it goes. Someone misses a pitch, instead of it going by as ball one, a guy gets on it and that's how it is. It just snowballs."
Infielder/Outfielder Jamodrick McGruder
On the frustrations after closing in on the score gap and then Texas State expanding it:
"It is frustrating not being able to close the gap. We're working on things and letting out notches right now. I feel later on the season we'll be better."
On the team seeing signs of hope to come out of slump:
"Towards the end of the game, we still fight. We never give up. We never quit."
On the team's frustrations during this losing skid:
"It can be frustrating but you just have to come back out the next day and try your best and do what you have to do."
On this weekend in College Station marking a fresh start for the team:
"Yeah, that's probably the message. We're getting a new fresh start. Like we started off the beginning of the season, hot and ready to go."
