Red Raiders Host Dolphins in NIT Second Round

LUBBOCK, Texas - After their 87-69 win over Seton Hall on Tuesday, the Red Raiders return home to host the Jacksonville Dolphins in the Second Round of the NIT on Saturday at 2 p.m.
The NIT Second Round match-up between the Red Raiders and the Dolphins will not be televised.
Red Raider fans can listen to Mark Finkner and Corky Oglesby on Double T 104.3.
Per NIT guidelines, reserved seats at the United Spirit Arena are $9 and $4 for Texas Tech students.
To purchase tickets for the Second Round game on March 20 at the United Spirit Arena, please call (888) GO-BIG-12 or (806) 742-TECH or stop by the Texas Tech Athletic Ticket Office in the north end of Jones AT&T Stadium.
Tickets are also available on our web site at www.texastech.com and at all local Select-A-Seat ticket outlets, including United Supermarkets.
This will be the third meeting between Texas Tech and Jacksonville.
The Dolphins have won both previous meetings. On December 28, 1971, they stopped the Red Raiders at the All-College Tournament in Oklahoma City, 81-66. Their last meeting was on December 29, 1981 in the Gator Bowl classic in Jacksonville, Florida. The Dolphins edged the Red Raiders, 59-58.
Jacksonville (20-12), a member of the Atlantic Sun conference, has averaged 70.3 points per game and has allowed their opponents to post 67.5 points per game.
Dolphin Ben Smith scored a game-high 26 points, including a 24-foot jump shot with 1.5 seconds remaining and Jacksonville rallied to upset top-seeded Arizona State in the first round of the NIT on Tuesday night.
The Dolphins have two players scoring in double figures. Ben Smith has started each game and leads his squad with 19.7 points per game. Lehmon Colbert adds 12.2 points per game.
The Red Raiders, 18-15 for the season, defeated No. 4 Seton Hall on Tuesday at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, 87-69.
Junior John Roberson led the Red Raiders with 22 points. Mike Singletary chipped in 13 points. D'walyn Roberts added a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Darko Cohadarevic also scored 12 points. Sophomore Robert Lewandowski added 10 points.
Texas Tech has three players averaging double figures for the season. John Roberson leads the team with 14.8 points per game. Mike Singletary posts with 14.7 points per outing. Nick Okorie adds 11.0 points per game.
The winner of the Texas Tech/Jacksonville game will face the winner of the game between No. 2 Mississippi and No. 3 Memphis in the quarterfinals.
