- Texas Tech ends its season opening, nine-game homestand with a 7-2 record and will hit the road this weekend for the first time as the Red Raiders play in the Houston College Classic.
- Texas Tech now leads the all-time series against Dallas Baptist 8-6 but the Patriots maintain a 5-4 advantage in games played at Dan Law Field.
- Texas Tech has scored runs in the first inning in all but one game this season (Washington State on Feb. 26).
- Sophomore left-hander Ben Flora picked up his first career win this evening with two shutout innings of relief. The two innings of work matched his career long outing as he previous went two innings against UT-Pan American and Texas State in 2009.
- Sophomore designated hitter Scott LeJeune added three more RBIs to his season total and now leads both the team and the Big 12 with 16 while teammate Barrett Barnes is second with 13. Barnes went 2-for-4 on the night with three runs scored and two RBIs.
- Senior left fielder Michael Reed added to his career long hit streak tonight with a double in the second inning. The double gave him a seven-game hit streak.
- Junior catcher and 2010 Johnny Bench Award Candidate Jeremy Mayo notched a career-high two doubles on the evening.
- Freshman right-hander Brandon Petite made his first career start but was chased away after walking back-to-back hitters in the third. He went 2 1/3 innings allowing four runs on four hits and faced 13 batters.
- With his third save tonight, Jay Johnson is now in a three-way tie for the Big 12 lead in saves with Brooks Pinckard of Baylor and Ryan Duke of Oklahoma.
