
Smith Begins Play In U.S. Pub Links Amateur Championship

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech women's golfer Jackie Smith opened up play in the 34th U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links Championship today at the Warren Golf Course at Notre Dame University in Notre Dame, Ind.
In her third appearance at the coveted championship, the junior sits in a tie for 76th place overall after she turned in a five-over 76 in the opening round. Smith will look to climb up the leaderboard as she is set to tee off in round two tomorrow morning at 11:40 a.m. (CT).
The U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links is one of 13 national championships conducted annually by the United States Golf Association.
Second round play will get underway tomorrow beginning at 6:30 a.m. (CT) at the Warren Golf Course at Notre Dame in Notre Dame, Ind. Following the conclusion of tomorrow's round, the field will be cut to 64 players who will begin match play on Wednesday, June 23, leading up to the final championship round on Saturday, June 26.
