Lady Raider To Compete In Third Amateur Championship

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech women's golfer Jackie Smith will compete in the 34th U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links Championship to be held at the University of Notre Dame, June 21-26.
The junior will make her third appearance in the coveted tournament after qualifying Wednesday at Sky Creek Ranch in Keller, Texas. Smith shot a 75 on the rigorous course to place her among the field of 156 women golfers.
The Magnolia, Texas native finished the 2010 season averaging a score of 77.2 per round while shooting a season-best 71 at the Northern Migration Invite. She recorded her career-best finish in the tournament as she placed 16th overall.
The U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links is one of 13 national championships conducted annually by the United States Golf Association.
Tournament play will get underway at the Warren Golf Course at Notre Dame in Notre Dame, Ind. The first two rounds will be played on Monday and Tuesday. Following the first 36 holes, the field will be cut to 64 players who will begin match play on Wednesday, June 23, leading up to the final championship round on Saturday, June 26.
