Texas Tech Takes on Delaware State

LUBBOCK, TX - The Texas Tech Red Raiders take on the Delaware State Hornets at the United Spirit Arena in the final nonconference game of the season tonight at 7:00 p.m. Tonight's game marks the initial meeting between the two teams.
Mark Finkner will call the courtside action against Delaware State along with analyst Andy Ellis on the Texas Tech Sports Network flagship radio station Double T 104.3.
The Hornets (4-7) opened their season with a win at home over Washington Adventist, 63-56, before falling at Maryland, 72-54. DSU defeated Philadelphia Biblical, 103-41, and then lost their next two road games. They lost at La Salle, 65-61, and at South Carolina, 74-61. The Hornets returned home to Dover and captured a win over UMESM, 64-53, before winning their first road game of the season at Maine, 75-56. Delaware State has lost their last four games. They fell at Pittsburgh (70-42), at Delaware (61-50), at NC State (72-70), and at Clemson (76-41).
After eleven games, the Hornets have averaged 62.2 points per game while allowing their opponents 63.3 points per game. Delaware State has three players averaging double figures for the season. Desi Washington tops his squad with 12.4 points per game. Casey Walker is next with 12.3 points per contest. Marques Oliver adds 10.1 points per outing and is their leading rebounder with 5.7 boards per game.
In their last game, Texas Tech stopped Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, 70-55. David Tairu led the Red Raiders with 18 points against the Islanders. Mike Singletary followed with 17 points and six assists.
Texas Tech led the Islanders at the half, 33-18. The 18 points given up by the Red Raiders in the first half is the fewest number of points allowed in any half this season and in any half last season.
Jaye Crockett's six blocks against TAMU-CC equals the United Spirit Arena record set by Zakee Wawood of ETSU on Nov. 23, 2003.
Texas Tech (7-7) is averaging 76.1 points per contest and allowing opponents 74.6 points per game. The Raiders have five players averaging double figures after fourteen nonconference games. Mike Singletary leads his squad with 13.9 points per game. Brad Reese is next with 12.7 points per contest. John Roberson follows with 12.4 points per game. David Tairu posts 10.6 points per game. Robert Lewandowski adds 10.4 points per outing.
After tonight's game with Delaware State, the Red Raiders open Big 12 play with two home games. On January 8, Baylor is in town for a 1:00 p.m. contest. Texas Tech hosts Texas on Tuesday, January 11 at 6:00 p.m.
