LUBBOCK, Texas - Gonzalo Escobar and Vitor Manzini's run at the ITA All-American Championships came to an end Friday as the duo fell in doubles while Escobar also dropped his third-round match in the singles draw.
The duo lost an 8-4 battle to Virginia Tech's tandem of Corrado Degl'Incerti and Tocci-Luka Somen, while Escobar was defeated by Oklahoma's Costin Paval, 6-3, 6-2, in the single draw.
The pair was coming off an 8-6 doubles win Thursday over the second-ranked tandem in the nation in Chris Thiemann and Marcel Thiemann from Mississippi.
"I feel this was a very good tournament for us," head coach Tim Siegel said. "Both Gonzalo and Vitor played well all weekend and came close to continuing their run today. I like how this team has performed so far, and we'll look to continue to improve."
The Red Raiders return to the courts Oct. 22 with the start of the ITA Texas Regional Championships held in College Station.
