Red Raiders Set for Home Matches with Tulsa, TCU

LUBBOCK, TX - The No. 19 Texas Tech men's tennis team returns to their McLeod Tennis Center courts this weekend for two home matches against two nationally ranked teams. The Red Raiders take on the No. 27 Golden Hurricane of the University of Tulsa on Saturday with first serve at 12 p.m. On Sunday, Texas Tech faces the No. 68 Horned Frogs of TCU. First serve is at 3 p.m.
After suffering a tough loss last Saturday at the Blue Gray National Tennis Classic, the Red Raiders responded by shutting out Notre Dame, 4-0, the following day and garnering third place in the Montgomery, Alabama tournament.
Texas Tech, ranked No. 17 in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) rankings, has two doubles tandems and two singles players solidly placed in the national rankings. Red Raiders Raony Carvalho and Rafael Garcia are No. 21 in the latest doubles rankings with teammates Gonzalo Escobar and Vitor Manzini listed No. 44. Among singles players, Gonzalo Escobar the tops the squad with his No. 20 ranking and Raony Carvalho comes in at the No. 25 position.
Expanded seating for all home tennis matches has been completed with the addition of bleacher seating above the baselines of the six north courts.
After their two home matches on Saturday and Sunday, Texas Tech travels to Albuquerque, New Mexico next weekend for matches against New Mexico and UNLV.
