LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech basketball coaches Kristy Curry and Billy Gillispie held a special dinner on Wednesday evening for members of the Rowdy Raiders at the United Spirit Arena.
The Rowdy Raiders is the official student support group of Red Raider and Lady Raider basketball. The group is dedicated to the spirit and tradition of Texas Tech basketball while cheering on the teams by wearing crazy, unique and outrageous costumes.
All Texas Tech students who attended a combined 15 or more games this past season were invited to be part of a special thank you dinner held at the United Spirit Arena. Two students, Peyton Aufill and Jared Truettner, attended 30-plus games this past season and were recognized and received special gifts from Curry and Gillispie.
Door prizes were also awarded, which included season long parking passes to basketball games, plus autographed jerseys, gift cards and specially designed t-shirts by Texas Tech Athletics. Students were also able to visit one-on-one with the coaches as well as pose for photographs with their favorite players.
Curry, Gillispie, Craig Wells, Senior Associate Athletics Director/Chief of Staff, and Elvis Moya, Assistant Director of Marketing and Promotions and Advisor for the Rowdy Raiders, spoke to the group about their appreciation for everyone involved and for their commitment to Texas Tech basketball.
